Vinnie’s Story
On Friday March 13 2009 at 1300 hours Vinnie came into this world a ArabXFriesian. His mother had retained her placenta and the vet was called. It took several hours for Doctor Dennison to remove the placenta it did not want to come out. In the mean time here is poor Vinnie little guy was hungry. Milk was removed from mom Jo and Vinnie was tubed so he could get fed, plus he needed that thing only new mamas can share with their babies. Needless to say after all the work mom wanted nothing to do with Vinnie, we tried, I stayed up all night trying everything to get her to take her baby and nothing worked. Frustrated and tired I called the vet and she brought out milk replacement for Vinnie, keep this little guy in your prayers this will be hard work .
March 14th 2009 It took me a few hours of trying everything to get him to take the nipple but it finally happened. So I got a little soaked from the milk not to mention sticky, ok and stinky from the milk. So far so good, he is a happy colt and tomorrow we should get the blood test results to see if he got what he needed from mom.
March 15th 2009 Another good day and one healthy baby, he is eating like a horse (pun intended) and I am very grateful for Dr. Anita Dennison of Los Caballos Veterinary Hospital for all her hard work on these two horse. Jo the mother is looking better and fingers crossed she stays that way. Vinnie also received plasma today flown in from Kansas from a donor horse to get his antibodies
March 24 2009 Well what a month it has been, Vinnie and Jo are perfect and doing well...we are all grateful I'm pretty sure the horses are also. Another surprise happened this morning when Misty gave birth to the prettiest black and white FriesianXPaint. Miabella, aka Mia was born about 6am this morning. She is healthy and happy and mom is doing well too. There will be more on both of these babies as soon as i find 5 minutes to spare, being a mom to an orphan takes up most of my day and night and it is time again to feed.

RANCH BLOG
April 4th 2009
All is well at the ranch moms and babies are doing well and are happy and healthy...Now i need a vacation and maybe a good night sleep.
Two more babies coming soon and i seriously cant wait, i am the nervous mom and i want all the horses to stay healthy. Giving birth isn't
an easy thing, there are things that can happen as we found out with Jo. We are so grateful for Dr. Dennison DVM for the work she put into
saving this mare and my Vinnie, i owe her more than she knows.
Everything is running smoothly and the adoptions of other horses is going great... I am grateful to the new families that took in theses
horses, i know they are off to new adventures and they're with someone to call their own.
I am going to try and take it easy for a bit, its been so overwhelming...all the horses that come in and out and Vinnie. I do hope everyone
understands this girl needs a break and I'm not going to take in 5 at a time like it has been, I'm going to kill myself at this pace. I will take in
emergency situation types and one or two at a time. We have adopted out more horses than pictures in the adopted horse section, I'm so
busy that i don't get the time to take pictures. The important part here is the horses go to a good home where they get proper care. I have
made new friends through this rescue and i love when they visit, but darn it pick up a muck rake i have lost enough weight. I went from a 16
to 6 so if your looking for a wonderful weight loss program believe me this is it LOL
May 2 2009
Life at the ranch is still full of adventures, lack of sleep, to much poop to pick up and a lot of horses to take care of...but i love it.
On May 1st a new filly arrived, one more baby to go and I'm done for the year for foal watch. Mona Lisa arrived about 5:30 am and that little
girl came out running, maybe in her former life she was a race horse. She has to be one of the happiest babies i have ever met, curious,
adventurous and has this amazing trot for her size, her mother Angel will lose the baby fat trying to keep up with this filly.
You know no matter how much i complain about the lack of sleep i look forward to whats next, now if this last mare would foal i would be a
happy camper.
Vinnie is doing great, we have nicked named him the turd he was one heck of a nice looking colt, so correct and a real looker. I will get up
to date pictures on these babies soon...when i find 5 minutes to spare.
Mia, what can i say what a doll...Now this one is a true beauty and she comes when she is called, makes mama nervous and she trots up
after her, she isn't clingy to mom, mom is clingy to her. Our new thing is lets let C.C. place a fly mask on me...She runs comes back,
maybe she doesn't like the color, it is plaid and it most not be in season right now. I've had several people offer to buy her but this one is
all mine, i think i deserve her after the 2000.00 vet bill. We will be offering the newest addition Mona Lisa and all proceeds goes to the
horses, every penny. Its hard when you have these babies letting them go but you can not keep them all and i believe a show career is in
her future. We have one more baby due, maybe i will walk out in the morning to greet the newest. Fingers crossed all goes well and its
another filly...think pink everyone.

Today i get an email from a friend she tells me about a skinny horse that has been abandon in a pasture in Northern California, the
picture you will see here.
I don't even know what to say...No shelters in the area have room for her and she is
distend to be a Southern California girl. More info on her as soon as she gets here, I'm
I little bit speechless at the moment. Keep your fingers crosses she makes the ride
here.

Sad news to share if you looked at the front page Misty our Ranch Mascot passed away on May 7th 2009. She was a love bug of a horse
and loved to spend time with anyone who would give her attention. Everyone loved her so attention she was not lacking. When she came
into the rescue she was a thin horse that required a lot of groceries. Her weight was slowly progressing where it should be but her body
tired out. She has severe bowed tendons, arthritis in both shoulders and physically was a mess. It was sad to see her go but she is no
longer in pain...This big grey mare will be missed by everyone.
Other things around the ranch have been progressing, we are awaiting the arrival of the grey Arab from Northern California...I hear the
person who is tending to her needs while they wait for us to move her is feeding her quite well, I'm grateful for this and I'm sure the horse is
too.
I got a call from a friend a TB mare in foal that need to be placed and she should be arriving here in the next couple of days...Her name is
Bee A Tigress. She has some issues that will need to be met as soon as she arrives but she will be taking care of ASAP. Now my farrier
had an accident and even if i told you the story sounds unbelievable, how come it didn't kill him is beyond me...Im grateful he survived but
that means having to wait for hoof work, i trust no one else with these horses and if he had died i would be lost.
Still awaiting Buttercups baby....she better pop soon or I'm going to have a heart attack. More news later right now its time to clean corrals
and of coarse feed Vinnie again. I need new pictures of him you will not believe how beautiful this big guy is.
Great news i got an update and new pictures of the grey mare up north and she looks way better then the picture i have here, as soon as i
figure out how to get it on here i will post it...The people holding her have put some weight on her and she should make the long haul
June 6th 2009
Everything at the ranch has been running smoothly, Shilo is doing well and our newest rescue a TB Bee A Tigress/Sweets aka Beauty is
settling in and now that she has her hooves trimmed is walking just fine. The babies are growing and full of themselves, all the mamas
are doing fine also. I'm working on mailing out donation's letter if the post office can figure out what they are suppose to do, i ordered
stamps almost two weeks ago and haven't heard a thing. Guess i need to call someone higher on the food chain.
Buttercup gave birth to a filly we have named FIONA on May 14th 2009 and she was the last baby due here till yearly next year. I'm glad the
waiting is over and i can get some sleep. Vinnie our orphan colt has been weaned, I'm giving him a few more months here before he will
be available. He has found a foster mom in Zephyr our Arab mare who has taken on this big guy, he pins his ears at the other ladies here,
they of coarse love him but he wants nothing to do with them. He had his first hoof trimming recently and since he is handled so much he
came through it with flying colors. No more excitement to report i will be posting Beauty's story soon with pictures, i have been busy lately
and I'm finally done with the home schooling thing finished the last class today so now i have time to other things i have been neglecting
lately.
I want to thank Lynnette her and girls for getting Bee A Tigress here, she has a sad story and is lucky they cared enough to save this mare
from another local horse rescue. Its sad this mare was suppose to have sanctuary at the rescue but instead she had to be rescued from
the person who rescued her, that just doesn't make sense.
Lately rescues have been getting a bad reputation...Who's fault is this? A few bad apples they say is all it take and it give those of us who
sacrifice our time, energy and funds to rescue these horses a harder time gaining the trust of the public. People there are still good
rescues out there please give them a chance, there are many horses who can use your help...please check the people out prior to
adopting. I don't care if your adopting from someone else if you need help or advise don't hesitate to ask me, i want horses to find homes
thats the important part here, thats why i got into this. I just do not want these bad apples ruining the chance of a legit rescue finding great
homes for these great horses...Be careful people and do your research, getting a horse should be pleasurable not a nightmare.

You will be
missed and
always have
a place in our
heart.
Last night about midnight May 23, 2009 a new rescue arrived. More on this sweet mare to come.
I told the hauler we should name her Cinderella because of her late midnight arrive but we will come up with a name soon.
She is a beautiful jet black TB mare, registered name Bee A Tigress.
Watch for her story in the days to come.
We are now on twitter.com and our blogspot address is above. I
will still try and post in both places to keep everyone up on whats
happening around the ranch.
July 5th 2009 all id well on the ranch, received 500 bales of hay so we are set for a while. The babies are growing...Miabella is almost as
big as her mom, she will be a monster size horse. I think her path in life may be more of the look at me I'm pretty horse, this baby is so kick
back she will be a nice mount when she grows up. Vinnie is a wonderful baby also, not a big as Mia but he was an orphan and will catch
up in size in the following months, i believe he will be grey. Mona Lisa, what a filly i think this girl would love to be someones new jumping
mount...she thought she was a race horse when she was born and ran everywhere...well i should say nowhere mama is on top of her all
the time, she is turning grey. Fiona...ok Fiona thinks she is a bucking bronco...either that or this filly is so happy she bucks all the time. All
the babies are stunning and one day i hope to see them in show, they are that nice and I'm not saying that because they are here, I'm
saying that because everyone that has seen them says the same thing...ok so i got lucky and had 4 quality babies.
We have 4 more mares here due to foal early next year and I'm just hoping for healthy, happy babies and the mares of course. The mares
until the foal. Why you ask? We cant take a chance people want these mares just for the babies they carry.
A lot more things will be happening around here as soon as it cools off...I have met a few new great people since i started this rescue
Lynnette Wilson and her girls who will be helping with the training of the critters here and has also helped me rescue horses, and Dean
who drives 2 hours one way to help me clean corrals. Justin who volunteers here daily and takes care of all things around the ranch, this
guy out works all of us...Being paralyzed has not stopped this guy, I'm so proud of him and how he doesn't let his disability effect is ability to
do anything... He gets around faster in that wheelchair then up...just stay out of his way he will run you over, and the horses love him. Justin
is my hero and a great example of not letting anything in life you enjoy stand in your way...ok so he is sitting. I too am disabled a lot of
people don't know that, it isn't something i normally share, plus looking at me i look like everyone else. I suffer debilitating pain, pain that
would normally cripple someone enough that they spend the rest of their life in a wheelchair or in bed, or 3 out of 5 of us end up killing
ourself due to the pain. I see myself as a surviver, one who will not let whats wrong with me limit me, i cant, thats giving in and I'm not one
for doing that, just not in my nature. I have days where i rather be in bed but i think this rescue gives me something to live for, to fight for
and is my mission in life. I wish people who are in the same boat as Justin and I would find some passion in life so that they too can
wake up every morning with a purpose, this is something a lot of them are lacking and as humans drives us...we all need something to live
for.
Going on our second year here as a 501c3 non profit has been an adventure and I personally have enjoyed every minute of it...well if i could
get these horses to poop in one area i would be an even more happy camper. I just want to thank all of those involved in this rescue and
we are always looking for volunteers, not just to pick road apples but heck if you have time to groom a horse and give it that little extra love,
you can make their day...to make them feel even more wanted. Some of these horses were abandoned by their owners, you as a human
know what its like not to feel wanted...imagine being stuck in a little corral, left in a pasture with no one to care for you...you to would want
that contact, just to know someone cared enough to spare a few minutes just on you. So for now thats all i have...I just wish someone
would turn off the freaking heater outside so i could enjoy more time outside without wanting to pass out. Ok i had to add a wee bit of a
vent LOL
Thanks You everyone for your support
Please check out our blog info on the ranch will be
posted there from now on. Thanks again
